Doesnt work in background

Easy to set, love that I can have different run, rest intervals.... Too bad I cant run it in background! Id like to use it while running in conjunction with my music and GPS run tracker. As soon as I switch apps, the timer stops. Thats the only thing preventing it from being USEFUL!!!!
